The grapes for this wine are growing in the Brêloft vineyard in the Awatere Valley, Marlborough. Shoot thinning, leaf plucking, fruit drop and removing of all shoulders, we were creating the best environment for the bunches to ripen. A real hands-on job. We only picked the golden coloured bunches from the North facing side of the vines. In the winery, the bunches were whole bunch pressed and the juice was cold settled overnight. The wild alcoholic fermentation took place in old French barrels, and we kept the wine in those barrels for a malolactic fermentation with a further maturation of 6 months. This Chenin blanc is unfiltered, so the “goodies” stays together.
